A photo of a pre-historic sea diorama served as the source image for this Liquib scene.  First, the Bolt Effect was applied using the Tidy Tangles Sequon.  That result was then transformed by the Mutate Tool using the Reimvert Mutation with the Fractate and Bifurcate options and with Iterants set to -1.
