Phota  -  Alter Pages

Phota Alter Pages The Alter Pages function provides a way to quickly alter the descriptive information, file locations, page layouts and/or image sizing for photos within a range of album pages.

Set Alter Photo Descriptions to change descriptive items for photos within the page range.  Optionally, only items that are currently blank will be replaced.  Unless the Set Photo items to blank if empty below option is checked, only items that have been entered with non-blank values will be replaced.  If the Set Titles to File Names option is checked the Title of each photo will be set to its image file name, taking into account the options set above.  Similarly, the Date stored for each photo can be set to the image file creation date.

The Alter File Locations to Default Directories option will check the image file locations of each Photo within the page range.  If a Photo is stored within the Default Images Files Directory or its sub-directories, the Image File value would be changed to remove the default directory from the beginning of the image file location.  Audio and Video file locations would also be updated if applicable.  The Album Information screen can be used to set the Default Media Directories.  It is recommended that default directories be specified for an Album, because that makes it much easier to keep the Album in sync if the image, audio and video files are later moved to different locations, for example to a new computer in a different folder or disc drive.  Ordinarily, it is not necessary to use this Alter function, since the file locations are automatically updated whenever the default directories are changed, but the option is available for unusual situations.

When the Alter Page Layouts option is set, photos on pages within the page range will be shifted between pages as needed to conform to the new Page Layout.  Additional pages will be inserted if necessary, and any resulting empty pages will be removed.

Check the Alter Image Sizing option to set the specified Image Sizing method for all pages within the range.  The Image Sizing choice, combined with the Page Layout determine how photos are positioned and sized within pages.

While using Format Mode, images can be conveniently rearranged within the current page by clicking and dragging with the mouse.  The Page Designer screen also provides options for moving and formatting photos within individual pages.
